Dear Listers

I've been putting it off but I guess I have to list my surnames some time.
I'll do the easy branch first.

Ashlin - Geeves.
The Geeves (Jeeves) family history has been quite fully covered in a
publication released around 1999. This followed the Geeves Family
Reunion held in Geeveston in February 1992. Anyone else that interested
in the Geeves would probably have the book.

I am interested in developing the other surnames and hopefully help others
with those surnames. It is also a challenge is to keep up-to-date
with the more recent generations. This is where I have found news.com
useful.

Children of the original settlers who arrived in 1842 per "Appoline" were:

Mary Ann Geeves b1843 m David William Nicholas b1844.
Their children married to surnames Sharp, Russell, Fleming, Miley, Hill,
Thiessen, Newlands, Manson.

Susan Geeves b1848 m Richard Hosking b1850.
Their children married to surnames - Baldwin, Robertson, Inches, Cochrane

Sophia Geeves b1850 m William Brown Hosking b1848
Their children married to surnames - Sharp, Benbow.

Louisa Geeves b1853 m Joseph Pierce Hosking b8851 (yes the Hosking men
are brothers)
Their children married to surnames - Shea, Gregson, Harwood, Sowby

Charles Geeves b1856 m Annie Hohne b1860.
Their children married to surnames - Alexander, Liberty, Carrol, Dowling,
Rowe, Ashlin, Wessing

Fanny Geeves b1858 m William Ebenezer Ashlin b1857 (my great grandparents)
Their children married to surnames - Russell, Robertson, Luttrell, Adcock,
Baker, Patterson (my grandmother) and Clark

Anna (Hannah) b1862 m James (Claridge) Ashlin and was a half brother to
William Ebenezer.
Their children married to surnames - Geeves (cousin) Pillings, Lambert,
Sharp, Austin, McLaren, Eaves, O'Brien, Small, Patterson (my grandmother's
sister), Dickson.

Other surnames further down the line include McKibben, Nichols,
Greatbatch, Batchelor, Studley, Marriott, Newbon, Woolley,
Bellette. This list is by no means complete - there are just so many.
