At the opening of the new Blackwood Creek Church, it was indicated
that the first church was built there around the 1870. It appears to
be a good rule of thumb in this area is that about 20 - 30 years
after settlement a church/chapel is built.

The first reference to Blackwood Creek in our register is Entry 90 in
the baptism 91 November 10, 1867

March 15, 1865 Charles Edward son of Charles and Mary Ann Hodgetts
(Timber Dealer) - Entry Blackwwood Creek, Parish of Walker,

Prior in Entry Entry 45 - June 1, 1862 There is a baptism of William
son of William and Elizabeth Speed (Labourer) address Iveridge which
is the property adjacent to the Blackwood Creek Area.

As for the Tubbs, these are still very much about in the area.
