This is all I could find in the library tonight, will be in the archives
tomorrow night, will see if the Cornelian Bay records have any thing else
The Advocate of Nov. 27th 1924 page 2
Deaths: Harris: Thomas John
on Wed Nov 26, at residence of his son (Thomas Walter), West Calder, aged 74
years
Funeral to leave residence of his son, Thomas Walter Harris, West Calder at
12 noon tomorrow, (Friday) to arrive at the Wynyard Cemetery 3 PM LH Porter,
undertaker.
not in Tamiott, so suspect no tombstone, the Wynyard Council has a map of
burial sites so could maybe help you if you wrote to them.
I found out from them where me grandmother was buried at the Jenner st
Cemetery - she died about 1918 - not sure when the newer general cemetery
started, but suspect it would have still been Jenner st in 1924,
particularly as his wife is there, I found her in the TAMIOTT - Florinda A.
Harris, (husband not named) 1/12/1905, Wynyard (old) Jenner St WYO3/0192-0
aged 47 years.
The newspaper index for 1905 doesnt state her death - will look in the
advocate and times which is in the archives tomorrow night if I get a
chance.
I found Thomas Walter in the Tamiott
16/12/1956, Wynyard General age 78, WY01 - 09050-0
I found it also in the advocate of the 17/12/1956
Harris, on 16/5/56, at Spencer Hospital, Wynyard, Walter harris of Calder,
husband of late Alice Harris.
Father of Merl (Mrs Lockart, Calder); Winifred (Mrs. Reece, Riana); Robert,
(SA); William, (Vic.); Dulcie, (Dec); Marj (Yolla); Cliff (Vic); Phyllis
(Mrs. White, Vic); Ray (Vic); Freda (Mrs. Davies, Vic); aged 78 years.
Funeral St. Stephens Cof E, wynyard, 2 pm Tues December 18th for Wynyard
Public Cemetery, Lusted & Sons AFDA Wynyard.
hope this helps, it states Walter in the paper, but the Tamiott states
Thomas Walter so it seems to be Thomas John's son.
regards,
Marguerite Byard
I sent this and I am not sure it was delivered so will send to the list
I did more research last night and not further information found in the
Advocate and times for december 1905, I will copy the results of the
previous night
