C.F. = "certificate of freedom"
C.E. maybe something similar - emancipation ?

Subject: [AUS-Tas] convict conduct record
Hi all
I have just received a copy of the conduct record of one of my Tassie
convicts. Each entry is preceded by the initials C.E.
>From another record I have seen, I thought this should refer to the place
where the offence occurred, but can't find anywhere likely.
Any ideas? He was supposed to be in George Town at the time. All the
entries occurred after he had received his Conditional Pardon, so I suppose
he behaved himself until then, and then let loose! All but one of the
entries were for being drunk and disorderly!
The other entry was for harbouring an absconded convict. He was fined 20/-
plus costs for this one. Seems a lot for 1831, doesn't it?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions as to the C.E.
Regards
