I have no idea what a demi-cousin is other than to guess it is fancy way of saying a half-cusin in the same sense that half brothers exist. Demi of course means half. Half-second cousins share only one grandparent on one side of the family as opposed to the usual two.
As far as "great uncle" is concerned I was taught that a great uncle is the brother of your grandfather as confusing as it seems. And my mother who knew such things was always right! LOL
