Two other points re orphans

1. Alot died at a very young age

2. The child may have been recorded under its father's name. I had Anne
Kerr with her child Mary Ann Armstrong. It pays to check both the convict
record and jail/hulk report to see if a father was mentioned or if she had
an alias. Alias names were usually the married name/names, these also
included couples living together as well as married. Officials usually used
the maiden name for women convicts in the ones I have looked at. Also
sometimes the UK gaol records differ from the Tas convict records.
