Hi Robyn

I personally do not hold any indexes, but the RYERSON INDEX of death (only)
notices in newspapers is a useful place to start -
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswsdps/dpsindx1.htm (the cover page gives you
the background). However, I checked it and your Eric Edward HOWARD is not
included. The Ryerson Index is an on-going project, so I keep it in my
Favourites and consult it whenever I need to check on someone.

Try doing a Google search for the main newspapers in the most likely states
and even try a search for "death index Australia" and see what you find.

The indexes to the Tasmanian newspapers are available both in hard copy or
on microfiche/film in many libraries, and may also be available on
inter-library loan. I have seen them at Mitchell Library in Sydney.

Good luck

Subject: death certificate.

Hi Margaret,

Just picked up on your e-mail address. Was wondering if it is possible to
obtain a death certificate of a man who I would almost be certain that he is
my birth father. I am a daughter of his first marriage and was born in
Hobart, mum and him serparated when I was about 3 yrs. He died in 1983.
Have his parents names and the age on his date of death matches with his
birth in 1917, also they have used his full name which is Eric Edward
Howard. Could you please let me know if you can help.

Regards

Robyn Thompson.
