Hi Shirley

In March 1818 Major (later Colonel) Gilbert Cimitiere took up command in
Launceston, which was the Head Quarters of the northern VDL settlement
at that time.

In May 1819, Colonel Cimitiere took up residence in a new government
house in George Town. From this time until 1825 George Town was the seat
of government in the north and Cimitiere lived in George Town until
December 1822 when he was replaced by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Cameron.
