Hi Listers,

I have been told by a few sources that my Henry Johnson (married to Sarah
Ann Burgess) is the son of Thomas Johnson and Dalrymple Mountgarret BRIGGS,
better known as "Dolly Dalrymple". Unfortunately, although this may be true,
I am still a little dubious, as I haven't any proof. Some have also said his
parents are Henry Johnson and Mary Welsh/Welch, or his father is William
Johnson.

Some information just given to me regarding Thomas and Dolly indicated that
Henry, the last born child, was born in Huon, whereas his siblings were born
in the following order: 2 in Longford, 1 in Perth, then 2 or 3 in the Port
Sorell district, 1 back at Longford, 1 in Launceston, then the last 3 before
Henry's birth were born in the Port Sorell district also. Does this seem
strange? Why did they move around so much?

Thomas also died in Port Sorell, which brings in to question the birthplace
of Henry. It seems that Thomas probably would have lived in the Port Sorell
district after the last 3 births there, as opposed to moving to Huon? Maybe
they were on holiday???

The birth years for the Johnson children range from 1836 to 1856.

Does anyone have proof, such as certificates, of the link between Henry and
his father? And can anyone explain why they moved around so much? Is anyone
else connected with the family?

Confused, but not giving up!

Regards,

Hayley Poynton
