Hi Clorice
I don't know if I have anything to add to your search but I have Hawkins in
Launceston in my family. I have looked at quite a few other Hawkins families
trying to find connections. I have some information which you may or may not
have already.
I have looked at the films for some Hawkins marriages, looking for
witnesses. At the marriage of Silas Bryan and Emma Hawkins in 1842, Evandale
Church, the witness was GG Rodgers ? It was United Church of England and
Ireland. Both Silas and Emma were free.
Another marriage that I looked at was Annie Bryan to Thomas Sutherland in
1884. My Eliza Hawkins's mother was Ann Sutherland so I thought Thomas might
have been connected. Thomas was a widower and Annie a widow. He was a
labourer and she a housekeeper. They married at the Parsonage Christian
Mission Church Launceston. Witnesses were John Hackford and GW Freeman.
My Eliza Hawkins was the daughter of Ann Sutherland and James Hawkins, born
1850 Launceston. She had a sister Martha who married David Hardy and then
after he died Joseph Taylor. I can't find what happened to the Taylor
children but I suspect they went to NZ.
I have looked at many marriages for Hawkins/ Sutherland/ Daley around
Launceston and Westbury and have more information if you are interested.
Hope this helps
