I found an article on page 3 in the OTAGO WITNESS (NZ) dated 11th August 1877 which might be of use to someone. It reads

Mr S Moriarty, solicitor, of Launceston, is reported to have come intyo three thousand pounds a year and some possessions in Kerry, Ireland, conditionally on his assuming the name of CRUMP.
