Judy,
I have seen a list of Tipperary Immigrants to NSW with quite a lot of
information compiled from the "Immigration Deposit Journals". Did such
journals exist for VDL ?

> My ancestors Patrick Maher and Catherine Lannan were assisted immigrants,
from Kilkenny. They arrived here in December 1854 on the Duchess of
Northumberland, which sailed from Plymouth. Plymouth seems to have been a
embarkation point for Irish emigrants. But their passage would have been
arranged through Irish agents of the Emigration Commissioners. Does anyone
know if any records of these agents have survived? I've checked the AJCP
reels for the commissioners correspondence, but there weren't any details of
particular ships. I'd appreciate it if anyone who's traced Irish assisted
immigrants to VDL could give me some clues about where to go next. Have
checked out all the Tasmanian sources.
