Dear Bob and list,
no nothing to do with it at all with this list.
When a list is set up at Rootsweb the admin has the choice of setting the
list reply to sender or reply to all.
This list is set as reply to sender as it has a large amount of subscribers
(usually around 680) and a reasonable amount of traffic.
If you feel that your answer is of interest to the whole list, click reply
ALL when sending your reply.
If the topic interests you, and no reply goes to the list, please ask for
the reply to go to the list.

This is an issue raised on another mailing list. A threat was made to sue
for release of information to the public domain by replying on the list. To
circumvent this all responses providing details from cds etc are now
directed to the person making the request rather than the list in general.
This is possibly a flow on from this issue.
