Hi Dona
You don't give any indication as to what period in history you are referring
to.
Large hotels and passenger liners used to (and some may still do) employ
someone to clean the guest's/passenger's shoes which they left outside their
room/cabin doors overnight.
The person employed to do this was often called the "boots boy" or just
"boots".
I don't think you would be able to do it now - your shoes would disappear!
