Hello Listers.
I am researching the above families, most or all of whom lived on the
Bellarine Peninsula in the late 1800's. Most of this inquiry has been
previously submitted to the Bellarine list.
Charles Allen = Mary Ann Palmer arrived at Paywit in 1856. Both died in
Portarlington in 1916 and 1919 respectively. Surviving children were:
William Henry, John, Jane (=David McLean), Mary Ann, Elizabeth (=Albert
Giblett), Hubert (=Mary Thomas), Frederick William Ernest, Percy Albert.
Thomas Thomas = Hannah Chirgwin (Geelong 1869). Surviving children were
Mary and Grace. The family were on the Steiglitz gold fields before
moving to Portarlington c. 1876.
William Thomas, brother of Thomas was witness at marriage. His address
was Chilwell.
Mary Thomas married Hubert Allen (above) and lived in Portarlington.
Grace Thomas married Perc Dolley and lived in Geelong. A daughter,
Margery, married Howard Glover. I understand they lived in Geelong.
I would be delighted to hear from any descendants or anyone who can
provide any information, particularly regarding William Thomas and the
Dolley family.
