LOCATION At the south-east end of the Geelong Botanical Gardens on the
lawn just north of Geelong's first customs house.
DESCRIPTION Cast bronze plaque on scoria rock with inscription: 'A tribute
to C.J. La Trobe, Superintendent, Port Phillip District 1839
1850, first Lieutenant Governor Victoria 1851-1854, whose
foresight provided these gardens. Unveiled at the centenary of
his death (4th December 1875) by L.J.Blake, O.B.E., State
Historian on 14th December 1975'.

MEMORIAL SIR CHARLES SLADEN WINDOW, CHRIST CHURCH, GEELONG

LOCATION In the south transept of Christ Church Anglican Church, corner
of Moorabool Street and McKillop Street, Geelong.
DESCRIPTION Stained-glass windows with decorative brass plaque
commemorating Sir Charles Sladen, K.C.M.G., statesman and
Premier of Victoria, who was Trustee and churchwarden, died 22
February 1884, aged 67. His friends placed the window as a
memorial 'of his high Christian character, his patriotic and
self devoted labour for the welfare of this colony, and his
untiring zeal in the cause of religion'.

DESCRIPTION Brass tablet with black lettering with inscription: 'This
tablet commemorates the first centenary of Geelong 26th
October 1838-1938', and listing the Mayor (Alderman C.N. Brown
J.P.) and councillors with L. L. Walter, Town Clerk for 1938.
