LOCATION In Johnstone Park, Geelong, near Gheringhap Street.
DESCRIPTION A statue, `Spirit of Anzac' of a bronzed ANZAC soldier in
bots, shorts and hat with a regimental flag draped over a
broken gun barrel, designed by Wallace Anderson, erected at
Pakington Street, Chilwell, at the Returned Soldiers Woollen
Mills in 1929, and relocated in Johnstone Park in 1982.

DESCRIPTION Statue of King George V by Wallace Anderson shown in his robes
and crowned as King-Emperor. The plinth is inscribed: 'George
V; a tribute from Geelong and district 26th October 1938'.

MEMORIAL HOWARD HITCHCOCK BATEWAY PILLARS, JOHNSTONE PARK, GEELONG

LOCATION At the Mercer Street entrance to Johnstone Park, Geelong.
DESCRIPTION Tall buff coloured pillrs enclosing columns supporting lintels
with inscription: 'Non ignotae civitatis municeps' (A citizen
of no mean city). The right pillar has inscription: 'The
Citizens' tribute to the Hon. Howard Hitchcock C.M.G., O.B.E.,
M.L.C., Mayor of Geelomg 1917-1922'. The pillars were erected
in 1925 with the foundation stone laid by the Premier, H.S.W.
Lawson.
