Jill,
I have a feeling there is or was a gatehouse at the gardens, and it is
also possible some of the gardeners may have lived on site. And I have
found it: there is a photo in George Jones book "Growing together" page
66 of the curator's cottage. Daniel Bunce lived there for a while but
others may also have. Page 100 of the same book is a photo of the lodge
and entrance gates.
