Dear Robyn, I have found Arthur Lavorel Depagney and details of other
Depagney's (which ever way it is spelt) and the Deaths of Arthur and his
brother, but as most of the boys died early in life and as far as I can see
only the girls seem to have survived. The problem that I have encountered is
that after much research cannot find Jules (Frank) Depagney entering Australia,
hoped it may have been in Geelong as he married there. Have found a Jules &
Francisous Lavrul (could be the Lavorel) arriving in Australia on the Gypsy
Queen, and they were listed as nationality OTHER, meaning not British, Irish or
Scottish. As stated previously, Jules or Frank left Australia in the early
1700 (as far as I know) and returned to France, and died within six months of
this date, not sure whether he made it to france, just persuming. He married
Caroline Wynne in Geelong, but cannot find any record. We have been told,
because of prosecution in France many of the nobel left France and changed
their names (not that I know that Jules/Frank was of nobel birth). They left
Geelong and settled in Echuca where Jules/Frank had a stable and ran a cab
(horse and cart). After Jules/Frank left Caroline ran/owned a hotel in Moama -
but after contacting the Historical Society in Echuca there is no trace. I
thought if I started in Geelong - where their lives in Australia seemed to have
started- i may get a bit further with my research.

In regards toGary Beechey - I dont think there is any connection - the beechey
family we belong to also came from France and as far as I know only one came to
Australia - his name was Alexander - he meet and married Laura Lavorel Depagney
(daughter of Jules/Frank) and they lived in Shepparton.
