Hi Kay
The book 'Geelong Hotels and their Licencees' is also a helpful booklet. I
gives a photo or drawing (where possible) of each hotel in Geelong, along
with the year and name of each licencee. This inofm was gleaned usually
from the Geelong Advertiser when licencee renewals were listed. It is
available for purchase the the Geelong Historical Records Centre. regards,
Pam Jennings

have found two references to John DAY, an early settler in the Barwaon
region who ran a tavern in Newtown for a short while. Here are the entries:
>
> DAY "JOHN TO LEWIS, JOSEPH" Geelong District Court Newtown 22 APR
1848 transfer granted
> DAY JOHN Geelong District Court Newtown 20 APR 1847 granted

point me in the right direction for Geelong District Court Records? Thanks
also to Sue and her helpers for her work to provide these very useful
indexes.
