Fellow Listers,
A long time ago I built a site for my MATTHEWS ancestors. It is now at
http://home.iprimus.com.au/erwin_matthews/ . The material describing the
migration of this family from County Down in 1838/39 was researched by
myself during the early 80's and was remembered at a family reunion held at
Mt Moriac Hall in October 1988, 150 years later. The family had a sad
welcome to Port Phillip in 1839 and were in Geelong early in the 1840's.
Others have published parts of this genealogy elsewhere and any interested
persons are welcome to use it. Please be kind with acknowledgements.
Portions of the site cater to my sentimentality, so be considerate. As with
all these things, genealogy unravels and web sites grow. The genealogy on
the site has been limited to 4 generations. Note that this is only one of
the many Matthews families to have settled in the Geelong district.
I will gladly accept any contributions to add to the site.
