I have a birth of Elizabeth HILL at Cowies Creek, Geelong. 1861 mother Elizabeth Williams, 22 years of Bermondsey, London.Father Thomas HILL, 23 years, Carpenter, Bermondsey London.

A notation on this cert.reads as follows:-

The mother of this child was not married. Child was born to Mr. Jones near Cowies Creek, mothers M.N. is Elizabeth Hill.
When notifying the death of this child, discovered the false information on this entry.

As I have been trying to trace the family of Elizabeth HILL the mother can anyone help with an explanation of this cert. Where is Cowies Creek? Who is Mr. Jones?

Elizabeth HILL I know had a father called Benjamin HILL, Leather Manufacturer. from her death cert. Where is the rest of the family?
