Hi John

The book Victoria and It's Metropolis gives a good mention of both Thomas
Austin and his wife. It also includes a picture of them. The book should be
available at most libraries.

Regards
Lori

I believe that the Austins from Winchelsea are famous as the benefactors of
the Austin Hospital in Heidelberg, Melbourne.

Does anyone have any history and information on this specific family. Can
anyone confirm my information as to the link between the Hospital and the
family.

My (late) father gave me some anecdotes but we know that history has an
ability to change throughout the generations.

(Can I add that oral history is worthwhile persevering with as I had a
situation where information given to me by my family about my grandfathers
service with the Methodist Church in Ocean Grove was originally not
confirmed by their original responses, but they later came back to me with
evidence to prove my information was correct)
