Hi There,
I wonder if anyone out there can help me. Ive just found your Geelong
site and would love to find more out about my great, great grandfathers
sister. She was born Charlotte Roberts in 1819 at a place called Gresford in
Denbighshire, Wales. In 1845 she married James Parker in Liverpool. They had
two children, Emily in 1846 and John in 1849. In late 1852 they sailed for
Australia, landing in Melbourne in April 1853. The little girl died shortly
afterwards and the family moved to near a Quarantine station where there was
building work to be had. This was where their letter home was sent from,
telling of the voyage and their first year in the Colony.
Two more children were born to the couple, Henry in 1856 and William in
1859.
Charlotte died in 1869 in Brittania Street, Ashby, Geelong, and James
remarried to Jane M----- . He died in 1885 at Herne Hill, where he was a
farmer.
I hope there are some Parker descendants who recognize the above names and
could let me know what happened next!
Yours in hopeful anticipation,
Joy Davies
