Hi Joy,

I have the "Growing Together" book. The reference to Rev B H Power does not
really relate to his gardening prowess, but rather his musical abilities.
Page 110 relates to band music in the gardens. The paragraph reads as
follows:

"At the beginning of the 1868 series the bandmaster received a pianoforte
copy of a grand military march, the "Corio", from its composer, the Rev. B H
Power, who dedicated it to the Artillery Regiment. Mr Walker had it ready
for the Band to perform on 9th January 1869, when the Advertiser declared it
"a very excellent piece of music". Sad to relate, Father Power, a native of
Cork, died at St Mary's a few months later, on 6th August, aged 42 years."

Hope this helps,

Jill Ferguson

of Geelong, p.100. I have a lot of information about Rev Power but none of
it refers to gardening, so I am rather intrigued. If someone can look this
up it would be much appreciated.
