Hi Judy
Have you used the book 'Geelong Hotels and their Licensees' by W J
Morrow and I Wynd? There are six people with the surname Sheridan
listed as licensees, Bridget, Frances, Joseph P, Lawrence Francis,
Patrick and Peter but no Olive. Probably the six were really four
because Frances was probably Lawrence Francis and Peter was probably
Patrick.
Bridget - 1876 to 1900 SHAKESPEARE/HAYMARKET/CARRINGTON, 1895 NEWMARKET
Frances (probably Lawrence Francis - 1897 CLARE/SIR CHARLES DARLING
Joseph P - 1900 to 1907 CLARE/SIR CHARLES DARLING
Lawrence Francis - 1893 to 1899 (exc 1897) CLARE/SIR CHARLES DARLING
Patrick - 1866 to 1874 (exc 1867) BUILDERS ARMS
Peter (probably Patrick) - 1867 BUILDERS ARMS
This book doesn't have a reference to the surname Sealy or to the
Grand Central. The Grovedale was called the German Town. The Geelong
could be GEELONG/GEELONG FAMILY/SOUTHEY'S/MELBOURNE CLUB (103 Yarra
St) or GEELONG AND BALLARAT/SALEYARDS (Kildare/Church St) or GEELONG
AND BELLERINE (Portarlington Rd Moolap) or GEELONG AND MELBOURNE (236
Moorabool St cnr Myers St) or ODDFELLOW'S INN/ODD FELLOWS
ARMS/FARMER'S ARMS/GEELONG AND MELBOURNE/OLNEY'S/GEELONG (Myers St,
probably same as the one prior to this one).
Do you have dates for when your Olive was a licensee?
Jennifer
