Subject: [GEELONG] Surnames Sproule, Gubby, Liomin in Geelong area 1800s
Date: Sat, 29 Nov 2003 23:31:20 +1100
Hello,
I'm researching the family history of Elizabeth Sproule and Frances Liomin.
In 1855 both came to Geelong as assisteds abosrd the "Maria Hay".
Elizabeth came to join relatives but I have not been able to track down any
relatives in the Geelong area.
I also notice that there is a rock climbing formation called Liomin's Castle
in the Arapiles and was wondering how it got its name and if there was any
connection to Frances Liomin?
Can anyone help me with either query?
Many Thanks,
Peter
