Hi Caroline,

When I saw my name on the list I thought 2 of us surely not! My Mum would be
so disappointed... in jest. Now I see the link .... Fred Allen. The question
is "is he yours or mine?" All fascinating stuff.

The indexing work is a credit to all those involved. My maternal gg
grandfather, Sir Graham Berry, makes a number of entries. So now I have many
sources of reference that, with time, I should be able to collect.

All the best
Brian

Hello Caroline
Gold Leaf and Silver Tussock is a wonderful book - available from
libraries, if you're patient. The Shire of Leigh is an area west of
Geelong, settled from the 1830's. The book covers Leigh's history from
then until the 1960's or so. Very detailed for the 1800's. The entry on
page 123 is a photo of three men on a lucerne cart, titled: Carting
lucerne at Golf Hill: Fred Allen, Bill Bath and Neil Boyd, possibly in
the late 1800's. Golf Hill was and is a very large imposing property in
the area. I don't have the page 121, but I'll have a look in the library
and let you know.
Stephanie

I have noticed a entry for Fred Allen Gold Reef and Silver Tussock : the
History of the Shire of Leigh pages 121 and 123. What I was wondering
is what dates does the book cover, and where is the shire of Leigh.
Could this be my Fred Allen or Brian Evans.

Thanks Caroline
