Hello Listers,

The following was offered to an enquirer in the GRD on James
HOLDEN,1790-1830, KIK & TIP Ireland

I was doing research in the Victorian Public Record Office, on the Supreme
Court, Equity Jurisdiction, and collected the following from a case dated 2
June 1881(VPRS 12025/P1 UNIT 19, CASE # 842)

James HOLDEN, farmer, of Strangeways died intestate 8 Sept 1879

Relatives located & listed:
John HOLDEN, late of Coolalaane county KILKENNY Ireland, believed dead,
brother to deceased
Johanna HOLDEN sister to James
Thomas HOLDEN brother to James
Alice FOY, sister to James
Michael HOLDEN brother to James, of Strangeways, Victoria, a farmer &
administrator of estate
Catherine HOLDEN(deceased), sister to James married Edmond WALSH of
Knockmoyland, county Kilkenny, Ireland, railway laborer;
Chn : William WALSH,
Ann WALSH,(in Ireland)
John H. WALSH (Peoria in USA)
Patrick WALSH ( New Orleans USA, supposed to have died of yellow
fever in New Orleans, 8 yrs previous),
James WALSH, (USA, supposed to be dead, a soldier in the Union
Army & not heard of since Battle of Wilderness 16 years previous)

Mary HOLDEN,(deceased) sister to James, wife of William? WALSH
chn: Margaret WALKER, wife of John
Ellen JONES wife of David
William WALSH jnr

It is unusual to have so much family information in an Equity file, and I
made these notes from a series of affidavits. The estate was valued at
close to £5,000, and was divided between the brothers & sisters & their
children if parents deceased. So, actually, 3 brothers & 2 sisters alive,
and the children of the 2 deceased sisters (both married a WALSH)

** Beryl, this may interest your Irish listers?

Regards, Ada
