Hello Everybody,
I am looking for information about the Sefton family, who sailed to Australia
in 1841. Margaret Sefton
[born 18/7/1823 Ballynahinch, County Down, Ireland; married William Clark
Brown in St James Cathedral, Melbourne, on 6/2/1847; died 17/9/1915 and buried in
the Coleraine Cemetary]
is my Great Great Great Grandmother.
Two of Margaret's uncles - Edward Vane Sefton and Gearge Sefton, were
transported for 7 years for larceny. They were tried in County Antrim on 7/4/1843,
and detained in Kilmainham Gaol on 26/4/1843.
I believe Margaret travelled to Australia with her father David [born about
1802 in Ballynahinch, died on 8 June 1882 and buried in Barrabool Hills
Cemetary] and some of her siblings. Her mother Mary (nee Stewart) having died in 1840
and buried in Belfast.
I have a large family tree of Margaret and William Clark Brown's descendants
up to 1962 (924 descendants !) If anybody would like a copy please e-mail me.
Equally, I would like to hear from anyone who can shed more light on this part
of my family.
Danielle Brown.
