Dale,

I find Multimap excellent for england and australia, it also has other
places.
Interestingly often you can see a satelite photo as well as map
As Suzie says though a number of those places are not towns.
Still you can search on most names and zoom in and out to see general area
or detail.
so you may even pick up the roads if you know them.
