I have a family of Smiths in Sale and Bairnsdale that I would like to find
out more about. James Francis Smith, sawyer, married Mary Jane Bond in Sale
on 24/6/1857 and had a large family. Their children were
1.Louisa b 1859 in Sale and died 1913 in Bairnsdale. She married firstly
Henry Fitzclarence in 1886 and then his brother Edmund in 1901.
2. Robert born Sale 1861.
3.Anna Maria Hannah born Sale 1863 and married John William Brennand in
1887.
4.James born 1865 in Sale and died in Bairnsdale in 1922.
5.Alfred Richard born 1867 in Sale and died in Cheltenham in 1917.
6.Francis born in Sale in 1869.
7. Martha born and died in Sale in 1871.
8. Frederick born in sale in 1873 and died in Bairnsdale in 1909.
9.Magdalene born Sale in 1874 and married Patrick Hofen in 1899.
10.John born in Sale in 1876.
11. Charlotte May born 1878 in Sale and married Andrew James McCann in
Cunninghame in 1901.

Of the parents, James Francis Smith was born in Hobart in 1829. He was the
son of Capt. Richard Heaney and Mary Ann Cooper. For some reason after 1841
he changed his name to Smith and appeared in Gippsland in 1857. He died in
1897 in Bairnsdale and is buried in Bairnsdale. His wife Mary Jane Bond was
born in London in 1839 and died in 1926 in Sale and is buried there.

Anyone that is related to these people or who may have something to add to
