Interesting!! Whalley - I like that and want to know more about this man.

My mother was a Wholey, as was her father and grandfather. However, the name
from there back into time is spelled variously as Wholey, Wholley, Whalley,
Waley, and several other variants. This surname, or variants, can be traced
back toi just after the Norman conquest. This is not the right forum to
pursue the matter in depth but if anyone out there wants to discuss further
separately I will pass on what I know about the name.
