It is interesting how history repeats itself re the floating islands.

Whilst researching families and people and places of interest for a local history book, I had occasion to go through the minutes of the Rosedale Shire for 1891.

A statement in that said (from my memory): "The people in the district were extremely unhappy that there was no warning that floodwaters were coming down the river. "Nobody had time to prepare for this event".

It is interesting because (approximately 100 years later) there had been some fairly disastrous floods in the Avon River region and what was the cry? "We didn't have enough warning!" so in some areas, history doesn't change things very much as with the floating islands'
