hi Terry,

the Victorian Gazetteer lists Alberton as being in the County of Buln - Buln and having a population of 300 at about 1879. Buln-Buln is in part of Gippsland "bounded in the North by the Tarwin, Mondarra and LaTrobe rivers" Basically it then goes south and is stopped by the County of Mornington. It does include Tralgon but not Sale.

Myrtle vale is not listed seperately, but is obviously close to Alberton

Hope this helps

Does anyone on the list know where or what is Myrtle Vale. I have a copy of a letter sent by my GGrandfather to the Army in 1915 requesting that his son (my G/Father) be released by the Army as he didn't have his fathers permission to enlist and he was also under age. The Address on the letter is given as Myrtle Vale, West Alberton.

Also, I am trying to contact a Tina Romari re information on the QUIRK family. The E-Mail address I have tried has bounced. If someone should know her, please get her to E-Mail me at

Thanks

Lookups are available by going to the AVG home page at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~surreal/AVG/ and from there to Lookups. If the lookup that you need isn't listed there, and is a GIPPSLAND one, then it is appropriate to ask on list.
