Hello to all,
Having joined the list a few weeks ago and after watching the
helpful information that flies around, I though it time that I listed my
surname interests.
Jeremiah OREILLY was born in 1832 in Tralee Ireland. In October
1855 he married Winifred FRAWLEY in Ballarat. She was born in 1835 in
County Clare Ireland. I only know for certain of one child Michael James
born 8 Oct. 1860 in Ballarat East. He was living in Melbourne by the
time he married in 1884 to Maryann Jane DOYLE There is family talk of a
(possibly step) brother who was a methodist minister.
I have not been able to locate the death of Winifred or Jeremiah or
there arrival information in Victoria. Jeremiah was a "merchant" in
Ballarat in 1860.
My other goldfields ancestors are John William Doyle (born Dublin
1828) and Julia Madden (born Dublin 1830). They were married in Dublin
in 1849. Most probably they arrived around 1856. Julia died in Sydney in
1909. She was a widow at the turn on the century. John Doyle probably
died in Ballarat or Melbourne. I know of only one child Maryann Jane
born 5 May 1858 at Smythes Creek (near Ballarat). There were two other
children both deceased by 1858.
Any details regarding these people would be most welcome, as well
as some information about Smythes Creek.
I am currently living overseas (in Malaysia) and have no access to
records other than by the net.
Thanking You in Advance,
Graeme OReilly
