G'day All,

I think the business of getting on to Maxi-> BDM etc. is now covered but
just in case it is not here is how I do it.

http://www.maxi.com.au

Then:-

What you can do -> Births, Deaths and Marriages -> Search Historical
Indexes -> More Info then back to SHI -> Continue -> Start Secure Session (I
just use IE5s generic security) -> Make a payment...........Then I STOP as I
do not wish to spend at the moment. Continued below.......

In the Search Historical Indexes screen you will see:-

"You can also look up family groups for couples who married or began having
children in Victoria up to 1860."

THAT is the OLD Vic Gold.

I sent a query to Maxi as follows:-

>>>
In regard to the pricing structure for accessing MAXI for family history
purposes.

Must the $10 access fee (20 pages) be used "immediately" - i.e. on one
connection only,

or

May a user make several connections over a period of days viewing say 3 or 4
pages a day?

This does not seem to be covered in the FAQ.

Also, the Family Search would appear to be the old "Vic GOLD". Is this so
and has the data base in this case been expanded.
>>>>

You wouldn't believe it but - sods law - I seem to have deleted the reply
:-(

Basically the answers were:-

$10 must be used at one connection only.

The old "Vic GOLD" has not been expanded.

SOOOooooooo! You basically have to put $10 up front BEFORE you start
searching.
Sure puts the kybosh on free-loaders like me <<VVBG>>
