Vaugh is probably an abbreviation for Vauhan S. of Castlemaine

Magpie is 8Km. from Ballarat nearBuninyong.

There are two others which may be relevant

Magpie and Stump Kilmore
Magpie Gully: Wedderburn
Magpie Reef: Inglewood
