Police Historical Unit phone 03 9247 5214 and they came under the heading of Victoria Police Centre 637 Flinders Street, Melbourne 3000.

called). I looked these up once before. From memory they go name, year
which police station had the charge sheet. The Victorian Police Historical
Society in Melbourne (I rang them) will then give you information on that
file number (no charge just a donation). If it is not a common name you
should be in luck. Just remembered.....when I had the correct date I then
looked up the local paper and got more information (mine was caught but not
for many years).
