I have a family of Lyons from Kilworth or Mitchelstown Co Cork.
John Lyons and Ellen Sullivan married Mitchelstown 1833. Witnesses to
marriage include Martin Lyons and Thomas Condon.
children born Kilworth include
William (Patrick) 1835
John 1837
Elizabeth 1840
Ellen 1842
Martin 1845
Baptismal Sponsors Mackey, Bowler, Hogan, Mohir, Lynch and Kelleher

William my GGrandfather next shows up in Ballan Victoria in 1862 as a
marriage witness to John Dwyer - brother of his soon to be wife.
I do not have conclusive proof that the above family is his but it's the
closest that the Mallow Heritage Centre, Co Cork can find for us. Sometimes
William went by the name Patrick.
William (Patrick) Lyons then marries Bridget Dwyer/Shanahan from Co
Tipperary in New Zealand in 1866. They return to Ballan, Victoria with four
children and take up residence along Cantwells Creek in 1872 where they have
a number of other children.
Bishop Patrick Lyons of Sale (dec) is one of this family's grandchildren.
