Hi One & All
The Lamprell Family Reunion will be held in Creswick on Saturday 29th &
Sunday 30th September 2001. This year is the 150th Anniversary of the
arrival in Australia aboard the ill fated 'Marion' (which was grounded on
the Troubridge Shoals on the eastern coast of Yorke Peninsula SA) of James &
Elizabeth LAMPRELL and their children William, Mary Ann, Elijah Joseph,
Henry, Charles, Harriet and
John. (Mary Ann's husband-to-be Benjamin PRESTON also arrived per
'Marion').
By the mid 1850's the LAMPRELL's & PRESTON's made their way to the Victorian
Goldfields settling in the Creswick area. Descendants of the family still
live in the area.
Of the children William married Rachel WHITTAKER, Mary Ann married Benjamin
PRESTON, Elijah married Anne SHANAHAN, Henry married Adelaide GYMER (nee
LOVEDAY), Charles married Jane SEARLE and Harriet married Alexander RUSSELL.
James and Elizabeth's second cousin Charles LAMPRELL was transported to
Tasmania in 1842 aboard the Marquis of Hastings. He married Ann DOLAN in
Avoca (TAS) in 1850 and they had three sons James, George and Samuel. In
1882 Samuel married Alice WHEELER in Wagga Wagga (NSW).
