Dear List
I wonder if any historian would be able to give a "thumb nail" sketch of the BLACK HILL area in Ballarat in about 1860 please?

The names I am also interested in, who lived there are - Gardner and Charlotte DAVIDSON and their children John, Elizabeth (who married William WILSON) and Martha (who married William LEACH) at the Presbyterian Church on 9 Feb 1860 at Blackhill, Ballarat West by Robert Walker, both on the same day.

The husbands were gold miners. The DAVIDSONS arrived in Ballarat in 1853 and were in New Zealand in about 1866.

It is the "thumb nail" sketch that I am particularly interested in. I haven't been able to track down a book at our local library here in Christchurch, NZ which breaks down Ballarat information sufficiently.

This list is very good and I'm picking up all sorts of things, not particularly about where ours lived but in general. Thank you all very much.

Regards

Jan Newcombe (NZ)
