Hi Folks,
I suspect Lyttleton Terrace, as with Lyttleton Street in Castlemaine, was
named after Police Superintendant Lyttleton, who had been in charge of the
Police districts of Bendigo, and Castlemaine [twice] It was common in the
goldfields era for place names to be the surnames of police and other
officials, especially major streets as with the two Lyttletons.

I have an obituary for this Superintendant, who joined the Police force when
it was formed in 1853, and died at the house of his nephew, a Doctor, at
Drysdale [Bellarine Peninsula?] in January 1876, if anyone wants it.

Tom
