Hello John, I spent 18 years in shipping and never heard of the term "screw
steamer" for SS. It was always "Steamship" Both Oxford Concise and Collins
Concise Dictionary give the meaning as "Steamship"
I have nrver heard of TSS and cannot find a reference for it, but certainly
TSMV stands for "Twin Screw Motor Vessel."
Cheers, Bob in Melbourne.
