I regularly walk my dogs around the Royal Victoria Country Park at
Netley, Southampton. It is close to where I live.
It is the site of the famous ROYAL VICTORIA MILITARY HOSPITAL, which
treated war casualties from 1863 up to 1945.
In a tranquil corner of the park is the Military Cemetary.(maintained
by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.) Several dozens of the headstones
record the resting place of members of the Australian Imperial Forces, who
were injured in The Great War and died at the Hospital.
Over the next few weeks, I will post the information inscribed on the
headstones of the A.I.F. Young Men.
If anyone would like an image of a particular headstone, let me know &
I will attempt to send an 'attachment'.(attempt IS the correct word 'cause
I'm an old fart getting to grips with these new fangled gizmos!!).
The postings will be in no particular order. They will be listed as I
find them amongst the hundreds of other War Heroes who are buried there.
