Hello Trish,
Just to verify a few things. Where did you go to get access to the Victorian Prisoners Male Index? Was it at the PRO or online? On your email you have Olof Victor Blade. Is that a typo or was that the actual entry for this person?
Do you know what year the index was for? If it was Olof there is a good chance he was in gaol more than once. I am wondering if it was a record of a later conviction when he was actually married to Frances SHORE. Could you fill me in on this?
I got some info from another generous person on another mailing list on the Oriental Queen. It seems to be a convict ship that brought 277 male prisoners from Plymouth on 4.11.1852 and arrived in Hobart Town on 19.02.1853. If this is Olaf I need to go back to the drawing board. This will all be new information and means he may have travelled to England prior to being sent to VDL.
I hope you can fill in a few of these gaps. many thanks
Narelle
