Hi all,
I have John RODAN from Dumfries, Scotland who settled with his wife
Elizabeth SMITH in Amherst after some time living in Gumeracha in
South Australia. I believe John came over from South Australia after
the news of gold spread across the border. Some of the close families
from Gumeracha hired bullock drays to make their way to the
goldfields.
Apart form their first two children, all the other children were born
in Amherst.
Elizabeth helped as a midwife in the area .
