Josephine

Welcome to the List

I have just had a look at the Pioneer Index of Births Deaths and Marriages
Victoria covering 1836 to 1888 and I cannot find any mention of EAT, EATT or
EATTS therein.

Its entirely possible that his death was not recorded 'Officially' - record
keeping and communications generally were a bit lax back then but if as you
say he died in suspicious circumstances I would have thought the authorities
would have been interested and as a consequence the death would have become
'officially' recorded through force of circumstance of a Coroners Inquest if
nothing else.

I'm at a loss to advise you of anything further you can do On-Line. The
Newspaper morgue is the obvious but these in most instances need to be
researched in person and for the most part are not available via the
Internet.

Perhaps another Lister may have a better suggestion.

Regards
Ron Phillips
