I read with interest the summary by Tom of letters added to the indexes by
the registry.
What I would like to know was there ever a publication of the missing BDM
registrations as evidenced by the missing numbers in the sequences. For
instance I am unable to locate marriages and a death in the Penshurst area
in the 1800s. It would make life so much easier if I could ‘see’ that -
eg.- “between May and August 1877 there are missing registrations from this
number to that”. I would stop hoping for a miracle that some missing BDMs
might one day be found in a back cupboard.
I once heard that there are several years missing from Echuca for the late
1800s – how true I don’t know.
