This topic has inspired me to ask about my ancestor. Does anyone know
of the history of Moonambel, Mt Creek or Great Western? - William
Grindley was, I believe, a butcher (or horse dealer?) in these places
in the late 1850s-early 1860s. Three children were born - one at
Great Western (Sarah Ann Grindley, 1858), one at Mt Creek (William
Richard Lewis Grindley, 1861), and one at Moonambel (Mary Ann Alice
Grindley, March 1863). In December 1863 Mrs Mary Grindley and
children travelled to Otago from Melbourne to join her husband who was
already at Dunstan.
